In the Austin Convention Center, Neil Young introduces PonoMusic, the newest answer to the music demands of the market. In his thesis, Young noted that the collapse of the recording industry is the result of MP3s success. The studio system networks collapsed together with the loss of engineers, delivery persons, and other stakeholders. MP3 provides a cheaper way to access the music industry, but it becomes the catalysts for the closure of tambourines and pianos in studios of Los Angeles.

Young contended the need of using the studio system of music access. PonoMusic is a medium used to transfer music recordings created at in the studio to the device. In this, one listens to quality music the way they do for CDs. This is a direct hit to MP3, which Young referred to as full of heat without the quality of music derived from balance of sound mechanics.

However during the presentation, Pono CEO John Hamm was not able to completely answer questions from the audience. Hamm was asked of how much Pono receives from Apple, which will serve as the music library of Pono. Young came to the rescue by noting that even if music companies decline or reject the principle behind Pono Music, the product will still thrive as music lovers look for the kind of music they want and as music intends to provide satisfaction to listeners.
