In the article "Ten Reasons Why Women are Better Than Men" that appeared in the May 2, 2013 edition of the Friday Magazine, Mrinal Shekar presented logical opinions proving that women are better than men, in several accounts. At the top of the list is that women contribute much to the economy of a nation with products ranging from clothing to cosmetics; plus women are great spenders than men. Other reasons presented by Shekar include: women are multi-tasker; women are more emotionally stable than men; women are great conversationalist; women talk things than go violent to point argument; women are artistic and creative; and several women have contributed to the society, as a whole.
While on May 12, Peter Iantorno responded to Shekar's article with his own's "10 Reasons Why He Believes Men are Better than Women" in the edition of GN Magazines which appeared last May 12, 2013. Iantorno paraded the strength and speed of men as the first and prime of men's superiority over women. He also presented the place of women in the home, the high-cost of women's maintenance, and of course, he did not miss to mention a long line of artists, athletes, and leaders who exemplified the meaning of being a man.
These two articles are articulate and profound in their own sense. But these two articles also presented their own biases. As always, there are always several sides of a table. Women would normally fight for their rights and men are always ready to draw the sword, if necessary, to assert their claim of supremacy. But you can’t have a coin with only one side. There are always two to complete the puzzle.
Actually, I don’t believe in gender struggle. It is an obvious disregard of being humane, and of humanity itself. Men and women are equal in their own respect, character, and definition. This is the most sublime of all the tenets that we hear from the religious explanations – and I believe in this fundamental principle. But in this equality, we find men and women to expound and characterize their manhood or femininity in their own way. This is the uniqueness of the equality being shared by men and women.
For women, their supremacy is bound on the idea that they complete men. They are the makers of the home; they work for other lives. You can find a woman cooking while taking care of her kids. Women are born like this; this is the innate character framed in the hearts of women. They are designed to do everything and almost all. Why? For a simple reason, they are WOMEN. On the other hand, men also compliment the weaker women. For they are strong, they provide for the family and they are focused people because they know they have responsibilities to accomplish. They had to be ready at all times to meet the needs of women.
What’s my point? I am pointing the hammer of equality to the nail of compliment. Why in the world women are made if not for men? And why in the world are men created if not for women. There should not struggle between the two for they complement each other, and work for each other. They play roles that only they can do. This is the reason why women and men are created.
The articles I have talked above are just creating trivialities out of the simple truth. Gender struggle and the fight on who is superior between men and women could have not been capitalized if not for the over-emphasis of most people. It is not impossible for men and women to live in harmony than strife.
